Going

Having

Feeling

Not
sure what your future holds? |
Joan
was in her late 30's when she began to feel that her life
had no purpose. She felt bored on her job. She spent less
and less time with friends. She even stopped exercising. A
friend urged her to get help. Joan wasn't sure where to turn.
Jewish Family Service was recommended and she made an appointment.
She felt comfortable with the social worker and after only
a few sessions, she was feeling much better.
Meeting
for only an hour per week with one of our professional social
workers might be exactly what you need. Once you can talk
about your concern, you could be on the way to making it better! |

Wendy
and Joe felt caught right in the middle. They were concerned
about their 12-year-old son.
His
grades were getting worse in Middle School. He dropped off
the track team and spent a lot of his time "just hanging
out doing nothing". On top of this, Wendy's father
was getting older. He lived alone since his wife died, and
Wendy was taking more and more responsibility for his daily
life. Both Wendy and Joe were beginning to feel overwhelmed.
This was causing friction in their marriage.
Wendy
and Joe both came to Jewish Family Service. They appreciated
the opportunity to be able to focus on themselves. They
soon began to feel better about their marriage. They then
decided to include their son and began to make progress
in improving their relationship with him as well.

Counseling |

David
and Felice were married 26 years. Once the youngest child
went off to college, it seemed they had nothing to talk to
each other about. They each had their own interests and friends.
At Jewish Family Service, they began to talk about what they
used to do together and began recreating some past happy times.
They now spend more time together and even developed new common
interests. Felice says she feels like they are going through
a second honeymoon! |

Counseling |

Are
your children driving you crazy?
Are you concerned your five-year-old isn't acting appropriately
in school?
Do your children fight all the time regardless of how much
you talk to the them about it?
Do you feel like all of your time is spent disciplining your
children instead of having fun with them? |
 |
Parenting
is not easy! We never seem to be fully prepared for
all that our children come up with. Often, having an impartial
observer can make a big difference. Our experienced social workers
know how to get parents and children working together to overcome
common parenting concerns. We believe that problems can best
be solved when the entire family is involved in finding the
solutions. |
Child
and Teen Counseling |
|
Some
kids need their own space. They open up more when they are
alone. Jewish Family Service understands this and is willing
to meet alone with children and teenagers when it is felt
to be in their best interest.
Tanya
is a teenager. She has come to Jewish Family Service for the
last five years. She doesn't come weekly. Sometimes she doesn't
come for months at a time. She only comes when she needs to
talk. She knows that when she has a concern, she can talk
to her Jewish Family Service social worker. She knows she'll
get honest answers to her tough questions. She knows that
her social worker will be there for her. |
Group

Jewish
Family Service offers group counseling when there are enough
people available that share common concerns.
Jewish Family Service has offered the following groups:

Psychiatric
Consultation and Medication
Jewish Family Service employs a psychiatrist who is
available to meet with agency counseling clients. Having a medical
doctor on staff enables the agency to use medication as a supplement
to counseling when deemed appropriate. |
